This Treatment Could Save Your Tooth!

One of my main goals as a dentist is to ensure you have a healthy mouth, and I do everything I can to help you keep your natural teeth. Our teeth are designed to last a lifetime, but when they are not cared for properly or treatment is avoided, it can lead to the discussion of extraction and tooth replacement options. Before a tooth extraction, there is one more treatment that can save your natural tooth — root canal therapy. This treatment gets a bad reputation, and we want to set the record straight on the truth about root canals. Read on to learn more.

Why Regular Dental Check-Ups Are Important

When was the last time you visited our office for a routine hygiene examination and cleaning? If it has been longer than six months, you are due for a visit. Patients with an outstanding oral hygiene routine sometimes feel they don’t need to visit for routine appointments because they are cleaning their teeth thoroughly at home. Unfortunately, that is simply not true. Everyone, no matter how excellent their oral health is, should be visiting our office at least every six months for a check-up, with some patients requiring visits more frequently.

It’s OK To Be Nervous

Do you find yourself postponing or delaying routine dental care and necessary treatments due to nerves or anxiety about visiting the dentist? If so, you are not alone. When it comes to dental care, a large percentage of adults experience some form of nervousness or anxiety. While we are sympathetic to everyone’s feelings, we never want dental care to be avoided, as it can lead to serious consequences for your current and future oral health. We want to share some helpful ways you can relax both during and prior to your dental visit. Read on to learn more about these tips.

Answers To Common Questions About Dental Implants

At Joel D. Singer, DMD, we want to help our patients restore their oral health. If they are in need of a tooth replacement, we want to be sure they are making an educated decision on a treatment that will be beneficial to their needs and lifestyle. Many patients who are in need of a tooth replacement or are experiencing severe decay that is irreparable often inquire about dental implants. For some of our patients, dental implants are an excellent choice. If you are unfamiliar, dental implants provide a permanent base for replacement teeth. Over time, the prosthesis fuses with the jawbone to create a permanent and lasting solution. We want to answer some of the most common questions we receive about dental implants.

Can Improving Your Diet Improve Your Oral Health?

At Joel D. Singer, DMD, we practice biological dentistry, also commonly referred to as holistic dentistry. We have a large focus on your oral health and how your overall health can impact and cause problems with your teeth and mouth. For example, you know that your diet and what you eat and drink each day make a difference in your overall health. If your diet is high in sugar and fat, it can lead to weight gain as well as problems with your blood pressure and heart, just to name a few. But did you know that diet can also have a significant impact on your oral health too? Patients who drink mostly sugary beverages, snack throughout the day, and have a diet high in sugar are more likely to experience dental issues such as decay and gum disease. So, can improving your diet improve your oral health? Absolutely!
