Zoom Whitening makes it possible to achieve a whiter, brighter smile-right here in our office. In as little as an hour you can remove decades of stain buildup and recapture the youthful brightness of your teens.

A special light is shined onto the teeth after they have been coated with whitening gel to release oxygen. The oxygen penetrates the outer enamel layer and then the dentin layer of the teeth, bleaching away stains and discolored areas.

Once we have determined that Zoom Whitening is right for you, we may begin by thoroughly removing any plaque and tartar from your teeth. Then we’ll start the whitening process with protective glasses, a lip retractor, and a cream or lotion to shield your eyes, lips, and face. We’ll then isolate the teeth and protect your gums by applying a special protective material to the gum tissue or by placing a rubber dam.

As the process of applying the whitening gel is repeated at least twice, many patients like to watch a short movie, we have a selection of DVDs but you are welcome to bring one of your own.

As a courtesy we make a custom tray for touch up at home whitening. Most patients use it within a year and a half. Heavy smoking, red wine, coffee and tea will re-stain your teeth and increase the likelihood of using the take home whitening touch up sooner.

We suggest for those that have any special occasion such as a wedding or family reunion to have the whitening done about a week prior to the function to make sure that they do not experience any uncomfortable sensitivity during the event. Sensitivity does not happen to everyone, but for those that do experience it usually only last for about two days, however taking aspirin or ibuprofen relieves any discomfort.
