Nitrous Oxide

One of the sedation dentistry methods we use to help anxious patients is nitrous oxide. We use it to help you manage dental anxiety and fear so that patients can safely receive their dental treatments. Nitrous oxide is a great option for those with less severe anxiety because it allows you to remain awake but feel comfortable and relaxed.

Many of our patients have benefited from nitrous oxide (N20) sedation at our office. Also known as laughing gas, nitrous oxide is a nitrogen-oxygen mixture that you inhale through a nose mask during your treatment. As you breathe in the nitrous oxide, you will experience a relaxed or even euphoric sensation. During treatment it can help you feel calm and at ease allowing the dentist to perform the treatment without any challenges. Nitrous oxide sedation is very safe and the effects wear off within just a few minutes after the mask is removed from your nose. You can also legally and safely drive yourself home after your appointment.
