FINALLY! A SMILE SHE KNEW WAS WAITING FOR HER!

When many people are unhappy with the appearance of their smile, like Dorothy Pidhorecki, they don’t smile or tend to cover their mouth with their hand. “I think the nicest thing you can do for someone is to smile at them and brighten their day,” states Dorothy. Now, she can – and does confidently!

For years, Dorothy was unhappy with her smile. Her teeth were discolored and a lower tooth was badly turned. Upper teeth were uneven, particularly “eye” teeth which were much shorter than the others.
Periodically, Dorothy visited dentists to learn options to improve her smile. “Over the years, the news was never good,” states Dorothy. Several wanted to pull natural teeth and create bridges to replace them. An orthodontist recommended braces for five years. After each visit, Dorothy left disappointed with the recommendation.
With constant public contact in her job at a toll booth, a patron once told Dorothy she was pretty. When she smiled, he retracted the compliment. With hurt feelings, she retreated to the break room and saw a TV ad featuring Dr. Joel Singer. After visiting his web site and viewing the Smile Gallery of other patients, she became excited about the potential for her smile.
Her initial visit was her first ray of hope to recreate her smile without the need to remove any teeth. “He is so professional and caring,” shares Dorothy. “I knew immediately he was ‘for’ me and wanted to help me feel better about myself.”

Dr. Singer discussed porcelain veneers for Dorothy’s upper eight teeth as well as the bottom tooth that protruded. “Dorothy’s full smile shows her upper eight teeth,” explains Dr. Singer. “We wanted to create a look that has all teeth in her smile blending together for the most natural appeal.” He also recommended whitening her teeth first so the veneers could be made to match a brightened smile overall.
After BriteSmile whitening, Dorothy was scheduled for the teeth prepared for porcelain veneers. In this process, Dr. Singer made molds of her teeth so the dental lab could make porcelain shaped to his specifications. These would be adhered to cover the front of Dorothy’s natural teeth, giving a new shape and shade.
Prior to meeting Dr. Singer, Dorothy had been “terrified of going to the dentist.” Yet, she found Dr. Singer was “very gentle and didn’t want me to feel anything. He talks to you and asks if you are OK and if you want to take a break. He has a very gentle touch. Even though the appointment was four hours long, I was very comfortable,” says Dorothy. Next, Dr. Singer placed a temporary until the porcelain was placed. “The temporaries were wonderful! I couldn’t stop smiling! I didn’t think it could get any better until he actually put the veneers on!” Dorothy exclaims.
She soon found her smile was better with the porcelain. “It’s wonderful!” she shares. “I hugged him and kissed him! I now have a Colgate smile! There’s no explaining it.” Dorothy feels her new smile has made her more attractive and outgoing. “I smile at everyone!” laughs Dorothy. “Your mouth is such a big part of your face. I felt trapped when I had to cover my mouth before, and now I feel free! Now I smile and laugh and I am confident when I do it!”
Cosmetic dentistry requires exceptional skills and materials for a natural look and feel. While the financial commitment can be a challenge, Dorothy feels the result is well worth the investment. “His staff helped me put together a payment plan that was easy for me to budget,” she states. “Now I have a beautiful smile and feel more confident than I did when I was in my twenties!” Like the “new Dorothy”, you may find yourself making this comment to Dr. Singer … “You made my smile!” To discuss smile enhancement, call (201) 592-6222 or ask about options at your next visit.
