Resolution
1 - Protect Your Teeth & Gum Health
Research now shows that your oral health
has an impact on your overall health. The
bacteria of gum disease has been linked
to coronary artery disease, stroke, memory
loss, diabetes, and preterm babies. It is
also the number one cause of tooth loss
in this country. Once tooth loss begins,
an entirely new set of ordeals begins.
For most who are
missing natural teeth, they are familiar
with the associated discomfort, inconvenience,
and embarrassment of dentures or partials.
These problems do not stop there. When natural
tooth roots are no longer present in the
jaw, the bone begins to shrink in depth
and height. As this occurs, the denture
or partial has an ever-changing foundation
on which to balance. Although denture adhesives
lessen the amount of movement, they are
typically dependable for only brief periods.
Other repercussions
occur as a result of bone loss. Changes
in facial appearance begin, including deep
wrinkling and a sunken-in appearance of
the mouth. Jowls form from the detachment
of facial muscles. Often, the corners of
the mouth turn downward, even in a smile.
The chin begins to point and the nose moves
closer to the chin. The result is a look
that ages you far beyond your years.
Fortunately, todays
dentistry offers options in tooth replacement
that are stable, attractive, and comfortable.
They can restore your appearance, chewing
strength and stability, and confidence in
speaking and laughing.
If you have experienced
tooth loss, investigate the latest options
to replace teeth. If you have all your natural
teeth, do all you can to protect them as
well as the health of your gums. Begin with
a thorough oral examination to learn your
current oral health status and vulnerable
areas. Then, get treatment to repair, protect,
or implement a daily regimen to maintain
healthy teeth and gums. Youll keep
your smile its best for 2003 and your lifetime!
Resolution 2 -
Achieve a smile that complements your life.
A smile is often the first thing
others notice. An appealing smile sends
a positive message to others in business
and social settings.
If you are not
happy with the appearance of your smile,
consider the options available in cosmetic
dentistry. Todays technology, techniques
and materials give an exceptional look,
feel, and longevity. In addition to the
affordability of todays whitening
techniques, porcelain crowns, veneers, and
bridges can recreate a smile that looks
natural, even reflecting light as natural
teeth. In smile enhancement, a dentist who
is skilled in advanced techniques of cosmetic
dentistry considers facial shape, bite alignment,
and smile width. These factors are combined
to give you a smile that flatters your overall
appearance with long-term appeal. Too, signs
of dental work are not visible
to others in todays esthetic dentistry.
Pursue a smile
that youll be proud to share. Todays
dentistry can make your smile look more
attractive, and have you smiling more often
and more confidently.
Resolution 3 -
Don t let insurance coverage dictate the
extent of your care.
Insurance coverage provides peace of mind
should major medical needs arise. For your
basic health needs, coverage is generally
designed to help you with selected services.
In most instances, however, the limits to
coverage provide far less than what is in
your long-term best interest.
Once you have a
thorough understanding of your current oral
health needs, you can make decisions that
will prevent problems in the future, rather
than continually repair those which occur.
The time and cost to repair problems with
teeth and gums is much greater than preventing
the problems in the first place. Do what
is necessary to avoid these problems regardless
of what insurance covers.
Resolution 4 -
Smile often.
Smiling conditions muscles in your face
and perks up your day. Smiles also have
a tendency to be contagious, so share yours
with others and enjoy the results! It is
the universal language we should all know
fluently! |
